INTRODUCTION: Most of us have had the experience of praying and not getting answers to our prayers. Some say well God always hears prayer and He always answers prayer. Sometimes God says yes, sometimes God says no and sometimes God says wait a while. However in reality sometimes God doesn't answer at all. Sometimes God ignores prayer. Sometimes he hears a prayer that would bring an abomination on a man who would pray such a prayer. What is wrong when God doesn't answer prayer? This is an important question because as your prayer life goes so will go the evangelistic results of the church. We know that when God does not answer prayer the problem is not with God, it is not that God has failed. But there are some scriptural reasons as to why prayers are not answered.

Prayer must be made in the name of Jesus since he is the way to God
A. To ask in Jesus' name means to ask with His approval - John 16:23
1. When a person puts his name on something it means that he approves it
2. When you ask God for something in Jesus' name you're asking for something that Jesus can approve of
B. It means to ask with the acclaim of Jesus
1. It means to ask something that would honor him
2. It means to ask for his glory
C. It means to pray with the authority of Jesus
1. Stop in the name of the law means to stop in the authority of the law
2. To ask in the name of Jesus means we have His authority to ask for that particular thing - John 14:13

II. GOD WILL NOT ANSWER A SPIRITLESS PRAYER - Eph. 6:18, Zech. 12:10, Jude 20, Romans 8:26
A. We must pray in the spirit because of our weakness - Rom. 8:26
