1 Chronicles 16:23-30

There was great celebration when the "ark of God" was placed permanently in Jerusalem. King David "committed" a psalm to the musicians for the occasion. In it he said, "Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." The call to worship still stands.

I. The Concept of Worship.

A. Man's inherent tendency to worship.

B. God's specific desire for worshippers. John 4:19 24
1. God's initiative in making a covenant. Exodus 19:4 6

2. God's instructions concerning the ark. Exodus 25:10 22
a. "There…I will meet with you." Exodus 25:22

3. God's involvement through the ark.

Revelation 21:1-22:5

Recent events on the international scene have led to talk of a "new world order." This indicates disillusionment with the "status quo" and a desire for something better. Scripture promises "a new heaven and a new earth" including "the Holy City, the new Jerusalem." That's exciting!

I. A Vision of Deity.

A. God shows His sovereignty-throne." v. 5a; 20:11

B. God speaks His mind-"words are trustworthy and true." v. 5c

C. God states His name-"Alpha and Omega…Beginning and End." v. 6

D. God summarizes His plan-"I am making everything new." v. 5b

II. A Vision of Eternity.

A. New heaven and new earth. v. 1

2. "Creation was subjected to frustration." Romans 8:20

3. "Heavens will disappear…earth will be laid bare." 2 Peter 3:10
