Romans 8:17-23

Romans 8:17 and if children, then heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. 18. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

Creation itself is groaning, and is in labor right now. The birth pains of the revealing of the sons of God are upon us.

Romans 8:20. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21. because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23. And not only they, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

The sons of God haven't fully been revealed; we are at the beginning stages of the full manifestation that is to come. The Word of God calls this the later rain.
The truth is, at this time we don't fully know who we are, but we will! Paul said we know in part --

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.

This planet is waiting for the sons of God to rise up to the place where we have been called! We see it in bits and pieces. The Word of God declares we only know in part, but the time is coming and is coming soon for the greater revelation to take place.
