What Happens When a Christian Dies? (2 of 5)
Series: There's No Place like Heaven

Luke 23:39-43

As we talk about our series, "There's No Place Like Heaven," I want to ask and answer this question: Hey, what happens when a Christian dies? What happens? Now we don't like to think about death. Death is the taboo subject in our world today. People don't like to talk about death. People don't like to think about death. And people are afraid of death. And one of the big fears about death is the fear of the unknown. I mean, nobody in this room has ever died, right? So we don't really know for sure what happens. Now we can read about some things, but still there is a question mark there. And things that we don't know, we fear. So that when a Christian dies, although we hurt, we don't grieve as do the rest that have no hope and we can rejoice even through the tears. See, death for the true child of God is not the end, but it is the beginning of Paradise with the Lord.

Luke chapter twenty-three - I'll begin reading in verse thirty-nine. And one of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us." And he said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with me in Paradise."

I want you to notice three great truths that are found in this passage. That answers the question, what happens when a Christians dies? Truth number one - when a Christian dies he goes to Heaven. He goes to Heaven. Now we're talking about Christians today. What happens when a Christian die ...
