Don’t Miss Out on the Messiah

Luke 2:1-7

Now with just 6 days before Christmas ... we’re looking at I suppose the most well known Christmas passages in all the word of God. And of course I’m talking about Luke chapter 2. So take God’s wonderful word and turn with me to Luke 2.

This time of year .. everybody is rushing around trying to find the right gift for the right person. I don’t know anything that destroys the Christmas spirit faster than looking for a place to park! And people seem to be so willing to give you theirs! Christmas has become a race to see which gives out first ... your money or your feet!

But do you know what saddens me the most about Christmas? Those that miss out on the Messiah! And if there was one thing I could say to you regarding this Christmas .. it’s this: DON’T MISS OUT ON THE MESSIAH.

Now in Luke 2 we read about a man who did just that! At the first Christmas .. He did what some of you will do this Christmas: he missed out on the Messiah. Now it’s not that the Messiah wasn’t available ... he simply refused to make room for Him..

Let’s just call him ‘‘the Inn Keeper.’’ You see ... the Inn Keeper had the opportunity that first Christmas Day to make room for Jesus .. but he didn’t.

And that Inn Keeper reminds me of a lot of people today! This Christmas ... they will have room for pleasures and possessions and parties... but they will not have room for Jesus!

And I dare say that I’m talking to some people this morning who know who Jesus is and what Jesus is! Two things that Inn Keeper DIDN’T know! And yet .. you’ve not made any room in your life for Jesus. You’ve filled your life with the things of this world and you’ve crowded Jesus out!

Now with Christmas Day approaching .. what I want to say to you is this:
