Friend of God
Genesis 16:1-16; Gen 18:1-15
Abram had been told by God that God was going to make
a great nation out of him.
God made that as a covenantal relationship with this man,
whom God would call Friend.
Abram's about 85 years old now...so in just 10 years, he has left Haram,
traveled to the land of Caanan,
been through a famine,
took a trip to Egypt,
rescued his nephew, Lot, acquired much wealth,
prevented a Range war,
and has had God come to him and make a covenant with Him
because he has been growing in his faith...
and his faith has now been counted as righteousness.
Well, did you ever notice though, how when things are going good,
and how you're thinking you've got it all wired together,
especially in your Walk with God,
that's when our ‘big heads' get us into trouble.
It's then we've got be most careful to keep our hearts and minds on the Lord.
some people say that Satan attacks us in ‘weakness'
but in reality, he does so in our strong points...
because those are the places we get careless over in keeping alert.
Look at Abram...his strong point was that he was worshiping God;
he was trusting God; and his walk with God was Good!
God had come and personally made a really great promise to him...
So...What about you? Where's your strong point vulnerability?
Ok. What happens next...because this is just about the way it works
in every way we get tripped up.
God had promised Abram that his generations would be great.
To your descendants I give this land, but Abram realizes
that to have a future generations, one needed a son.
Apparently, Sarai and Abram felt that God wanted them
to help Him out in this...so listen to what they did...
