The Establishing of a First Century Church

INTRODUCTION: In this text, the first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas is coming to a close. Historians believe that they have been gone a little over a year. They plan now to spend about a year in Antioch furloughing and preparing for a major conference in Jerusalem. I want us to take one last look at how the Lord has used the devotion of two servants who have displayed extreme devotion and heroic faith, all for the cause of Christ and the advancement of Christianity.
I. THE MEANNESS OF THE NEIGHBORS. 19-20

2 Corinthians 11:25, "Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep"
Galatians 6:17, "From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus."
2 Timothy 3:10-12, "But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra -- what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution."
Acts 16:1-3, "Then he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain Jewish woman who believed, but his father was Greek. He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium. Paul wanted to have him go on with him."
