On Wednesday nights I'm having a Deeper Life Conference and when you talk about the deeper Christian life you have to talk about the ministry of the Holy Spirit. I'm doing 4 messages on the Holy Spirit. After that we will do some studies on spiritual gifts and what the Bible says about the matter of spiritual gifts.

We're talking this evening about a very important area of the work and the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and entitling this message from a phrase right out of the Bible, "The baptism by the Holy Spirit." This is going to be a teaching message. It will be a little different. It's going to be a subject, though at the beginning you may feel it's not of interest to you, but I will assure that if you have not dealt with this issue, you will have to deal with it at some point in the future. It is important for us to understand what the scriptures have to say about the baptism by the Holy Spirit.

First Corinthians 12 verse 13 says, "For by one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." Capital "S," Holy Spirit.

If you travel with any degree of frequency, I'm sure you are familiar with upgrades. Some of you travel in your business and you are on the plane a great deal. My traveling decreased considerably when I was finished with my time as president of the Southern Baptist Convention. But for about 2 years I had a lot of traveling to do.
