We are studying Armageddon: The Cosmic Battle of the Ages. Today we are in stage five of the Battle of Armageddon as we are looking at seven stages of the War of Armageddon. Armageddon is not just a battle but it is in fact a war that will be fought during the last seven years of earth's history. At this particular time in the future when Armageddon takes place the final war that will be fought upon the earth, the church age will have ended. And the church as we know it will no longer be upon the earth. Now believers will be upon the earth, tribulation believers will upon the earth, the gospel will be preached upon the earth, it will be a different age and a different time, but the church will have been taken to be with the Lord at this particular time. And so those of us who know the Lord will not have to fear as Paul wrote in Thessalonians to the Thessalonians he said, "brethren, for you I write to say to you to rest with us, to not be troubled for the Lord has not appointed you to wrath but to obtain salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." And he makes it very clear about the fact that before the Antichrist is revealed and all these in times events begin to take place that have to do with Armageddon and the Antichrist that the church will be rescued, it will be taken out.
Last week we looked at the fourth stage of Armageddon at the fall of Jerusalem. And before that, we looked at the other stages that had to do with the fall of Babylon. Babylon being modern day Iraq and while the Antichrist has gathered the armies of the world together in the Valley of Armageddon in Israel, the enemy of the Antichrist will attack his home base in Iraq.
