"WHEN GOD'S PEOPLE LOSE HEART"
BACKGROUND OF TEXT:
TWO WORDS REFERRING TO THE HEART AND ACTIONS OF THE HEART
(4:5) "demoralized" - Hebrew "Kg ac" - means to be disturbed, fretful,
grieved, angry. It is the stirring up of the heart to a
heated condition and leads to some action.
(4:6) "mind" - Hebrew "Leb" - the heart , the center or middle of
something. The totality of man's inner or immortal nature.
The deepest, innermost, feelings.
"heart and soul" -"his heart is in the right place", "a heart to
T.S.: Keeping in mind the importance of a person's heart or inner most
feelings this morning I want to speak to you about, "When God's
People Lose Heart."
I. WHEN GOD'S PEOPLE GET HEART (3:1-32)
Two things give heart to God's people:
1. When God intervenes. (Nehemiah - people - salvation,
Personal salvation in Jesus Christ.)
2. Vision - of what God can do.
Involved what God can do through them
Success - what they have witnessed God do.
Ignited - what they have been set on fire to do.
Opportunity - what God wants to do.
Now - urgency of God doing it now.
* These things give God's people heart.
T.S.: This is where God's people and Nehemiah were in Chapter 3,
however, 4:1-5 is a different story.
II. WHEN GOD'S PEOPLE LOSE HEART. (4:1-3,5)
(4:5) Demoralized - lost all heart to accomplish the task.
Their hearts are grieved at not everyone being involved.
3 types of inactive church members:
1. Never come
2. Those who come - sour
3. Those who come - sit and soak
Why do God's people lose heart?
