Malachi 3:7-12
INTRODUCTION: In last church a young man named Ed Berry was converted. He and his wife
had eight children. The night before I baptized him he asked me the question,
"What about this gift called the tithe?" I told him and he gave me $100.00
that he had just made on his new business.
1. WHAT IS THE AMOUNT OF THE TITHE?(Malachi 3:8; Genesis 14:17-20)
Exp: Genesis-before the Law Abraham gave a tenth of all he had-a lesser givine to the
Leviticus 27:30, 32--a tenth of all! (10% of all) greater!
Malachi 3:8 Robbed of tithes and offerings!
Bring to storehouse-The treasury of the temple to take care of temple
expenses and the priests.
Matthew 23:23-Jesus did not have to run around teaching it because the Jews were
already practicing it! It was a way of their lives.
Ill: I tried to escape the teaching of the tithe in this emphasis because so many people
misunderstand it-I tried but could not!
I do not know what any person gives to this church-I do not want to know!
But the Lady that records our gifts I gave to her an assignment! How many family
units in our church give at least $1,000.00 a year to the church? Out of
217 units only 53 units gave at least $1,000.00 a year. Only 25 of these gave over
$2,000.00 a year. This means that we have 164 family units that did not give at
least $1,000.00 a year.
**One only has to make $10,000.00 a year to give $1,000.00(that is a tithe)
$20,000.00 a year to give $2,000.00(that is a tithe)
ST SUPPOSE: On Wednesday, December 15, 1982 E HOUSTON POST printed the follow-
-Jg information itn the section, MONEY MATTERS.- In- 1981 the average America- worker
made $15,691.00. This was an increase of 9.7. in 1980. We know that this was in-
/reased in 1982 and will be even greater in '83. In our church we have approximately
Y 150 people working full-time with some organization or company or in private business
If each of them made this much money per year which ...
