America Is on My Heart

Nehemiah 2:17-20

INTRODUCTION: I want to have a heart to heart talk with you this morning about America. It is on my heart and on my mind. We are losing this country to the secular humanists, the liberal educators, and to sleazy politicians who make decisions for our country that justify their own lifestyles. The biased media is attempting to redefine our history by making interpretations about various issues that are far from historical fact and truth. America is on my heart.

William Bennett, the former Secretary of Education, has recently published his Leading Cultural Indicators. He said, In the last 30 years, there has been a 560% increase in violent crime; more than a 400% increase in illegitimate births; a quadrupling in divorce rates; a tripling of the percentage of children living in single parent homes; more than 200% increase in teenage suicide rate, and a drop of almost 80 points in the S.A.T. scores.

America is on my heart today.

A recent study from Texas A and M University tells us that a person committing a crime in 1990 could expect the following on the average:

A person committing murder can expect to spend 1.8 years in prison; the expected punishment for rape is sixty days; robbery will bring an average prison time of twenty- three days; a person convicted of arson can expect 6.7 days; aggravated assault averages 6.4 days; and a person stealing a car can reasonably expect to spend a day and a half in jail.

All of this tells us that authority is not important. America is on my heart today.

In Steve Farrar's recent book, ''Standing Tall'', he says that America consists of fractured children, fractured families, and is a fractured nation.
