HOW TO KNOW THE WILL OF GOD

Now Friends, if you have your Bibles, please turn with
me to Ephesians 5:17. The subject today is "How to
Find God's Will for Your Life." We can know,
practically, what God's will is for our lives and do
A Young Pastor's Three Concerns
This came home to me when I was in a certain city and
a young preacher came to me. He is talented, gifted,
with a good education and personality. But his life
has been broken. He had some problems. He asked me if
he could come to my motel room and I said yes. He came
and began to tell me about his personal life. He
wanted to know how to find GOD'S WILL for his life.
Three things were on his mind at the time. First, the
matter of his personal life. Second, the matter of
future schooling. Third, the matter of revival in the
church were he was preaching at the time.
Ephesians 5:17 says, "Be ye not unwise but
understanding what the will of the Lord is." Be
understanding what God wants for you. We CAN
understand what God's will is for our lives. We can
understand what God wants for our lives.
In Colossians 1:9 the Apostle Paul prayed that they
might be "filled with the knowledge of God's will in
all wisdom and spiritual understanding." They could
be filled with the knowledge of what God wanted for
them, wisdom to desire it and spiritual understanding
to discern it.
In Romans 12: 1 and 2 Paul tells us plainly that we
can "prove what is that good and acceptable and
perfect will of God."
Now there are three passages that deal with knowing
God's will. This is important, friends, because only
to the degree that we live in the will of God are we a
success in our spiritual lives, and to the degree that
we do not, we fail. Success is finding and walking in
the will of God. I am not talking here about
salvation, which is by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
