THE ORDER OF AUTHORITY IN THE CHURCH

I want to speak to you today on "The Order of Au-
thority in the Church." So often this is not seen and
because of it much trouble, much heartache, much
sorrow and much agony and hindrance to God's work
takes place. It is not recognized that there is
actually ORDER in the church.
Today we have churches that are dead, we have
churches that are dying, and we have churches that
are on fire. I am an evangelist and I travel around
about in revival meetings, and I was in a meeting
recently in one of our churches (I'll not tell you
where) and in it God's Spirit moved in such a
remarkable way. A new field. The pastor had come in
and built a new building. The people were with him.
There was enthusiasm. Everybody was together
shoulder-to-shoulder, heart-to-heart. The opening
service the Spirit of God came so mightily upon us
the invitation lasted forty-five minutes and fifty-
five decisions were made for the Lord. I can see that
pastor's face now, at the close when he began to
present to the people the ones who had come, and he
said, "Friends, I never expected this." They had
prayer meetings and were looking for revival and they
did all the work, but it was so overwhelming, "I
never expected this," said he. And that went right on
through that week, night after night. Even on Friday
night, football night, the house was filled and souls
were saved. God blessed in such a wonderful way.
God's Spirit Not Hindered
Why? Well, I'll tell you why: God's Spirit was not
hindered in that church, and the Spirit of the Lord
was moving. It isn't God's will that churches be
dead. It isn't God's will that churches die. It isn't
God's will for anything else than that we be on fire
for the Lord and that we be spiritual and powerhouses
for God. Now that's what you want. That's what I
want. That's what all pastors want and all rig ...
