II Kings 4:8

And now, if you have your Bibles, friends, turn with
me to Second Kings 4:8, and today we are talking about
a great woman in God's eyes, a woman who is called in
the Scriptures, the Shunammite. It's a wonderful,
wonderful study. We read here in verse 8 about "a
great woman."

I am speaking to the ladies now. Would you like for
God to call you "great?" Here is a character who is
great, and we want to learn WHY she was great in the
eyes of God. There are people today who long to be
great; and they will pay any price to be great in the
eyes of man. Any price! There are people in the
entertainment world who will pay any price to be
great. Many a woman has sold herself into sin to be
called great in Hollywood and on the stage and in many
other phases of the entertaining world. Many a man has
corrupted himself and forgotten spiritual principles,
to be called great. I am not saying that ALL have done
so, but there have been many. Generally speaking, when
men put those things FIRST, they CORRUPT THEMSELVES.
God warns us, that they that would be rich fall into
many hurtful snares. When the main thing in your mind
is to be rich, to be famous, to acquire money, and you
sacrifice spiritual principles and character, you
corrupt yourself! People do not see it, but it's so.

Now here is a great woman in God's eyes. There are
people today who are lowly, and humble, in the eyes of
the world, but they are GREAT in the eyes of God.
Let's remember that. Many times that which is great in
the eyes of the world is an ABOMINATION to God! So we
are not talking now about a person great in man's
eyes, but great in the eyes of God.

So we read, "It fell on a day that Elisha passed to
Shunem, where was a great woman, and she constrained
him to eat bread. And so it was, that as often as he
passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread."

An interesting thing about this woma ...
