"AS... SO!"
Joshua 1:2-9

As.... and so. I consider these, some spiritual facts of life. Some
facts that everyone like Joshua must anchor their lives to on the bottom
line. As.... and so. I want to point out five things, if time gives me
that kind of time, that I think are very important in your life and in my
life, about nailing down our spiritual facts of life. I want to tell you,
if you're here today without Jesus Christ as your Savior, these facts will
help you to know what's in the offering for you when you receive Jesus as
your Savior.
If you are a Christian, I want you to know what God has promised you,
that you might anchor your life and be strengthened in your spiritual life
by what God has promised in His wonderful Word.
I. Passages of Life
The first one is this. We see it in verse 2, "passages." "Moses my
servant is dead. Now, therefore, arise and go over this Jordan." The first
spiritual fact of life -- "as" means that everybody is going to die. God
is very blunt here. This is the passage of life.
Someone by the name of "Shehan" wrote a book called, Passages, the
predictable adult crises of life. I read just this week where Mohammad Ali
had turned thirty-six. The paper headlines said, "Old, overnight." Some-
thing had happened to Mohammad Ali. He had suddenly grown old. He was
simply going through one of those predictable, adult crises of life. I
think Shehan says that twenty-five to thirty-five is one of those passages;
thirty-five to forty-five is another right on down the line. Ali is going
through one of them and I wish I could have talked to him personally, maybe
I could've explained it to him just a little bit so it wouldn't have got
him down so much. He was kind of discouraged. He wouldn't talk to the
press, and when he won't talk, something is wrong, as you and I know. ...
