MIGHTY MEN OF GOD: PART VI
DISCOVERING MY LIFE MISSION
By Pastor Fenton Moorhead
LUK 16:19 "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and
fine linen and lived in luxury every day.
THE BIBLE NOWHERE SAYS IT IS SINFUL TO BE WEALTHY.
I Timothy 6:10 "The love of money is a root of all kinds of
evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith
and pierced themselves with many griefs."
WHAT WAS THE MISSION OF THIS RICH MAN'S LIFE?
A MAN'S LIFE IS DESCRIBED IN A SINGLE SENTANCE.
THIS DESCRIPTION IS A EPITATH!
A MAN DELUDED BY THE IDEA THAT YOU CAN MEASURE SUCCESS AND
HAPPINESS BY THE ACCUMULATION OF WEALTH AND LIVING IN LUXURY.
THE RICH MAN: HE HAS SO MUCH!
1. GOD! - THE ONE HE WAS MADE FOR, TO KNOW AND TO LOVE!
IN HIS AFFLUENCE...
HE HAS NO NEED OF GOD.
HE IS SELF-MADE, SELF-SUFFICIENT.
HE DOES NOT VALUE GOD. GOD IS NOT NECESSARY.
HE HAS NO REAL DESIRE OF GOD.
HE IS SELF-DIRECTED.
POSSIBLY A COSMETIC LAYER OF GOD IN HIS LIFE, A THIN COVERING.
BUT NO LEADERSHIP FROM GOD, FOR THAT WOULD INTERFERE.
LUK 16:20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered
LUK 16:21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's
table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
PEOPLE: TO CONNECT WITH PEOPLE IN AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS OF
GIVING AND RECEIVING LOVE. THE PEOPLE IN THE RICH MAN'S LIFE ARE
THERE FOR HIM, HIS AMBITIONS, HIS PURPOSES, HIS PLEASURE. THEY
DO NOT HAVE A VALUE UNLESS THEY OFFER HIM SOME BENEFIT.
