1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
These past weeks we've been looking at what it takes for our church, DBC, to go 'viral' through the sharing of the Good News and the Love of Jesus Christ here in the Back Mountain of Northeast PA.
And what we've seen so far for us to do that is that we MUST VISIBLY show the Love of Jesus Christ not just inside the four walls of our church, but more importantly it involves us LETTING Christ reign in us, or be the full-time Manager of our lives, and in doing so, then we will in fact show Him wherever we go whether that be in our homes, in our classes, in our workplaces, in restaurants, everywhere.
And what we've seen is that this showing of the Love of Jesus Christ in Us will play out as we show ACCEPTANCE of ALL people because all of us were created and loved by God. Now, that does NOT mean we go and compromise our beliefs or that we water down God's Word on sin REGARDLESS of whether it is Politically Correct or NOT, Nor will we change our preaching of the TRUTH of God's Word whether the Law of the Land changes or not
But the thing that we will do, is that we will be TRUE to Christ, and LIVE as TRUE CHRISTIANS and in doing so, we WILL ACCEPT ALL people as fellow-human beings created by God
We will also be a church that shows the Love of Christ by showing APPRECIATION of all people...
in other words, we must put other people BEFORE ourselves
that means that we have to take on the servant-mindset
which means that we show a genuine humility rather than trying to 'elevate' ourselves or trying to make someone else look bad or lesser
OK and that now brings us to what I want to talk about today
I want to share with you about showing the Love of Christ as we BUILD UP other people or another way of putting, it by AFFIRMING them ...
