In 1920 Harry Burt, the owner of a Youngstown, Ohio ice cream parlor, decided to put wooden sticks into ice cream, and he called them Good Humor Ice Cream Suckers, and the ice cream bar was born. And then he bought twelve trucks and outfitted them with rudimentary freezers and bells and went through the neighborhoods ringing the bells and selling the Good Humor Ice Cream Suckers. Well, in the 1950s the Good Humor Ice Cream Company became a fixture in American pop culture as everyone knew about the ice cream man and the ice cream trucks as they had over two thousand ice cream trucks that would go into neighborhoods, each of them was driven by a Good Humor Ice Cream man who would always wear his white pants, white shirt, white hat with the black trim and the black bow tie. And kids would get so excited when they would hear the music, and they would know that the Good Humor man was close. The Good Humor Ice Cream truck was just around the bend, and so I've got some Good Humor Ice Cream right now I'm going to throw out. Hit you with a Bomb Pop right there. Yeah. Good Humor Ice Cream. There you go. You're welcome.
We're starting a new series today that's about God's good humor in relation to human kind. God's good humor always comes out of God's good purpose for our lives. Someone once said: If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. And it's so true. I think God gets a chuckle when I make my little comfortable plan and try to control all the outcomes because He knows He's going to throw a wrench into that plan so that He can shove me out of my little perfect plan and out of my comfort zone into His God plan for my life. So, whenever you want God to work in your life, you need to realize God does it His way, not your way. God works how He wants, when He wants, where He wants because God knows best, and God definitely has a sense of humor.
