3 LEVELS OF LIVING
• GROUNDED: The survival level
• RUNWAY: The success level
• FLYING: The significance level
HOW TO BECOME A FREQUENT FLYER
1. TRUST THE FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS
• 2 Tim. 3:16 (LB)
2. SPEND TIME IN THE FLIGHT MANUAL
• Deut. 17:19 (LB)
I have to admit that the reason I looked so confident is not because I had any experience flying. Folks that was the first time I had ever been in a cockpit. The reason I looked so confident is because, if you haven't already guessed, I was in a flight simulator. Now, I was a little bit nervous because it was a $27 million flight simulator and I was afraid I might break the thing. I want to thank Mike and Monica Lowe, pilots from Continental Airlines, who really helped me out. Give them a big hand for letting me do that. I knew the worst thing that could happen to me if I messed up was I'd feel a few bumps in the simulator, but I'd get to try again. But, in life, you don't get that luxury because the problems in life are real. The bumps and the bruises you get along the way really do hurt and if you miss out on God's flight plan for your life, you might not get another shot at it. Bob Buford says that most people live their lives as if they'd walked into a movie theater after about twenty minutes after the film has started to roll. They are not 100% sure what the story is all about, but it seems pretty interesting and by the time they figure out what the movie is all about, it's almost over. And, by the time most people figure out what life is all about and what the purpose of life is, life is almost over. They have wasted their lives. They feel like this verse in Isaiah 49:4. "I have labored to no purpose. I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing." That is why we are in a series I call The Purpose of Life. That is why we are in a 40 Day Spiritual Growth emphasis on purpose. Because I want to help you discover your personal purpose in life, so you don't waste your life. So you discover what on earth you are here for before it is too late.
3 Levels of Living
You will live in one of three basic levels in life. The first level is what I call GROUNDED. You never get off the ground. I was driving by a field the other day and I saw an old airplane just sitting out in the field. It was all rusted out. It had no engine. It certainly couldn't fly and it seemed sort of sad. Here was this plane that was made, it was created to fly. It was designed to fly and it is sitting out on this field, not being used for what it was made for. It was designed to fly. You were made for a purpose. You were designed for a reason. You were designed to fly.
