… hit television show Mythbusters, where these two guys take urban legends and they put them to the test. In this series we have been having a lot of fun with our own Fellowship of The Woodlands mythbusting team as we have taken our own crash dummies, Fellowship Fred, Fellowship Frank and Fellowship Fabio and put them to the test. If you weren't here over the last few weeks here are the highlights.
This week we didn't put a myth to the test. Aren't you so disappointed? We are going to spare you the pain because later in the message I'm going to give you that assignment today. You are going to carry out the test. Before we do I want you to give a warm Fellowship of The Woodlands welcome to our international television audience right now.
We are in a series I'm calling Mythbusters which is based on the Beatitudes in the Bible. Every one of the Beatitudes starts with the word Blessed. So, really, this is the kind of life that God blesses. God wants to open up the window of Heaven and bless your life. But too many times we believe modern myths that really steal our happiness. I have windows on the stage today because God wants to unlock the window of His blessing and pour out His blessings and happiness and fulfillment and purpose in your life. But too many times we believe modern myths that really lock up the window of God's blessing to our lives. God wants to bless you. God wants to open up His window of blessing on your life. But modern myths that we believe can steal our happiness and close down the window to God's blessing in our lives. Like the myth we are talking about today. He who dies with the most toys wins. The reality is, he who dies with the most toys still dies. Did you hear about the true Texan who was on his death bed and the pastor was right there with him and he said, "Pastor, I only have one request before I die. " The pastor said, "What is it?" He said, "I want to be buried in my 4x4, my truck." The pastor said, "Why in the world do you want to be buried in your truck?" And he said, "Because I've never found a hole it couldn't get me out of." Well, there is one hole that no material possession can get you out of and that's the grave. He who dies with the most toys still dies. Well, Jesus busts this myth in the fourth Beatitude.
