Take your Bible and turn to Matthew 13 as we come to the last of eight sermons from Matthew 13 beginning in Verse 47, now this is the seventh in series of parables about "The Mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven".
A mystery is something that cannot be discerned through human wisdom or human education but it can only be known as it is revealed by the Spirit of God. Jesus said concerning the end of the world and the things of God that they were hidden from some but revealed unto the disciples.
So the Bible teaches the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God so they are spiritually discerned. Neither can we know them and so today Jesus has some secrets to share with His people.
Now today's parable is the Dragnet. Look at Verse 47. Jesus says, " THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE UNTO A NET, THAT WAS CAST INTO THE SEA, AND GATHERED OF EVERY KIND: WHICH, WHEN IT WAS FULL, THEY DREW TO SHORE, AND SAT DOWN, AND GATHERED THE GOOD INTO VESSELS, BUT CAST THE BAD AWAY.
SO SHALL IT BE AT THE END OF THE WORLD (literally the end of the age): THE ANGELS SHALL COME FORTH, AND SEVER THE WICKED FROM AMONG THE JUST, AND SHALL CAST THEM INTO THE FURNACE OF FIRE: THERE SHALL BE WAILING AND GNASHING OF TEETH.
JESUS SAITH UNTO THEM, HAVE YE UNDERSTOOD ALL THESE THINGS? (I think their answer is incredible)THEY SAY UNTO HIM, YES, LORD. THEN SAID HE UNTO THEM, THEREFORE EVERY SCRIBE WHICH IS INSTRUCTED UNTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE UNTO A MAN THAT IS AN HOUSEHOLDER, WHICH BRINGETH FORTH OUT OF HIS TREASURE THINGS NEW AND OLD."
That is the Bible is built upon precept, upon precept. As the Old Testament unfolded, the New Testament was built upon the truths found in the Old Testament.
