Ephesians Chapter 2 and we are going to begin with verse 11 right where we left off last week.
"WHEREFORE REMEMBER, THAT YE BEING IN TIME PAST GENTILES IN THE FLESH, WHO ARE CALLED UNCIRCUMCISION BY THAT WHICH IS CALLED THE CIRCUMCISION IN THE FLESH MADE BY HANDS;
THAT AT THAT TIME YE WERE WITHOUT CHRIST, BEING ALIENS FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF ISRAEL, AND STRANGERS FROM THE COVENANTS OF PROMISE, HAVING NO HOPE, AND WITHOUT GOD IN THE WORLD:
BUT NOW IN CHRIST JESUS YE WHO SOMETIMES WERE FAR OFF ARE MADE NIGH BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST."
In verse eleven Paul begins to say to us "There is something I want you to remember, there is something I want you to never forget, there is something I want you to be reminded of."
And after having posed all the beauty of the grace of God and reminded us that we have been saved by God's grace and through God's mercy and through God's love, Paul comes to say, "I want you to remember and to never forget that once you were lost, now you are found. Once you were blind but now you can see, but never forget what it means to be lost."
I want to share this morning a message from this title, "What Does It Mean To Be Lost?" The word lost l-o-s-t is a word that Jesus used to describe the purpose of His coming into the world.
What is Christmas all about? Jesus said, "The son of man has come to seek and to save that which is lost." He told three stories in Luke's gospel about what it means to be lost
There is the story of the search of a woman for coins that were lost. There is the story of the search of a sheppard for his sheep that was lost.
