Churches, like houses, need a regular spring-cleaning. The time had come for the Corinthians. Paul used the analogy of the Feast of Passover to urge them to “purge out the leaven.”

I. The Historical Incident. Exodus 12:1-13

A. Instituted in Egypt.
B. Commemorated in Sinai. Numbers 9:1-5
C. Observed in Jerusalem. 2 Chronicles 35:1-19; Ezra 6:19-22
D. Celebrated in Dispersion.

II. The Spiritual Illustration. 1 Chronicles 5:7
