INTRODUCTION: This is our third and final message on the importance of unity in the house of God. United we stand; divided we fall. This is true in every level of society, ministry, government, business, management and home. It is also true in the church, the body of Christ. We have a mandate from scripture that we should be a specific kind of church. I gave seven clear goals for our church to pursue last week. When we live in unity, we reflect the perfect relationship in the Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are one in spirit, one in purpose, one in passion for the kingdom of God. If we are focused on our own private agendas, how can the kingdom flourish?
• Mark Twain used to say he put a dog and a cat in a cage together as an experiment, to see if they could get along. They did, so he put in a bird, pig and goat. They, too, got along fine after a few adjustments. Then he put in a Baptist, Presbyterian, and Catholic; soon there was not a living thing left.
Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.
