Taking Up Your Mantle by Frank Damazio

Taking Up Your Mantle
Frank Damazio

INTRODUCTION: Every person has a mantle to pick up and wear according to the will of God. This mantle may be missed, rejected and worn carelessly or it may be worn correctly and with dignity. You have a custom-made mantle on its way to fit around your life and ministry. If you were convinced this was true, you would prepare in every way possible and be very attentive as to how that mantle might be passed on to you.

2 Kings 2:13,15 He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan… Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, "The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha." And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.

1 Kings 19:16 Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.

1 Kings 19:19 So he departed from there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he was with the twelfth. Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him
BBE: "And Elijah went up to him and put his robe on him."
ASV: "And Elijah passed over to him and cast his mantle upon him."
Message: "The Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak over him."
