Today I want to begin a series of messages about faith. Faith is to the Christian life what gasoline is to a car.

Each one of these messages will be a message upon which you can build. Hopefully, as we learn about faith, as we review faith, as we realize what the Bible says about faith, we are going to, once again, renew our understanding and our commitment to be people of faith. All that God want to do in your life and my life and the life of our church, He's going to do on the basis of our faith.

Everybody has faith. There's some people who say, "Well, I don't believe in God." Well, that doesn't mean they don't have faith. They have faith that there is no God. It takes great faith to say, "I believe everything happened by accident. I don't believe that any cause that we see had an uncaused cause behind it. I don't believe that any movement in the universe was caused by an unmoved mover. I don't believe there is a source of power or a source of being."

Now, when a person says, "Nothing, times nobody, equals everything," they have a lot of faith. The problem is, it's not faith in the right thing. The question is, what kind of faith will a man have and in what will be the object of his faith and what will be the amount of his faith.

Romans 10:17 – "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Somebody asked, "Where can I get faith? How can I have faith?" Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

What a tremendous key this is when we think about what faith can do for us. Really we are asking what the word of God can do for us, what hearing the word of Go ...
