A Testimony Of Thankfulness
1 Timothy 1:12-17
Nov. 22, 2009
INTRODUCTION: Paul had just finished wrestling again with the essence of "the glorious gospel" and he literally exploded into a joyous celebration of his own personal relationship with Christ. Though he had known Jesus Christ for many years, Paul never got too far away from his conversion experience. The message that comes through his story is the assurance that if Christ could indeed change him, He can change anyone else.
As the essence of the Gospel is Jesus Himself, so the essence of Christian witness is telling how the story of Jesus has shaped our stories.

5. Thankful for my grandchildren
6. Thankful for my family
7. Thankful for my church family
8. Thankful for my friends
9. Thankful for my place of service
I. PAUL REMEMBERING HIS PAST. 12-13a
SONG: We Will Remember
We will remember, we will remember
We will remember the works of Your hands
We will stop and give you praise
For great is Thy faithfulness
You're our creator, our life sustainer
Deliverer, our comfort, our joy
Throughout the ages You've been our shelter
Our peace in the midst of the storm
With signs and wonders You've shown Your power
With precious blood You showed us Your grace
You've been our helper, our liberator
The giver of life with no end
When we walk through life's darkest valleys
We will look back at all You have done
And we will shout, our God is good
And He is the faithful One
To the one from whom all blessings flow
To the one whose glory has been shown
I still remember the day You saved me
The day I heard You call out my name
You said You loved me and would never leave me
And I've never been the same
Note His Remembering:
A. THE PERSON OF HIS SALVATION. 12
"And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord" - Paul gives credit where credit is due (I owe my whole life to You). Paul's thanksgiving is for God's Grace
"Grace may be defined as God's loving forgiveness, by which He grants exemption from judgment, and the promise of temporal and eternal blessings to guilty and condemned sinners freely, without any worthiness on their part, and based on nothing they have done or failed to do."
Literally reads, "grateful I am"
B. THE POWER OF HIS SALVATION. 12
"Who has enabled me" (filled me with His power)
Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Jesus Christ never gives a person a task to do without also giving them the power (touch) to do it. Grace is the ability to obey.
C. THE PRINCIPLE OF HIS SALVATION. 12
"because He counted me faithful"
