INTRO:
(A) .... Series .... STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY.... study Philippians.
1- Bible says .... Neh. 8:10 "... the joy of the Lord is your strength."
2- Paul had strength for the journey .... because he knew the joy of the Lord.
a- Under house arrest .... chained to 2 Roman guards ... 24/7 .... waiting to appear before Caesar.
b- Paul's joy grew out of his personal relationship with Jesus .... which brought Paul: His Purpose In Life (Ch.1) .... and His Pattern For Life (Ch. 2)
c- Unity with other believers is a key ingredient in being fulfilled in life ....
.... 2 :1-4 -- You must be humble to have this unity.
.... 2:5-11 -- Jesus shows us how to be humble so that we can have a meaningful life.
.... 2:12-13 -- There are changes you and I must be willing to make so that we can grow more like Jesus .... Jesus empowers you to make that change.
3- Then you're supposed to help others change .... you become a change agent in others' lives. a- Applies to you .... if you supervise others at work.
b- If you're a parent or grandparent, helping your children or grandchildren grow .... if you're simply trying to win your neighbor to Jesus .... or lead a ministry in the church.
c- Or if you simply want to help people be better for having known you and been around you.
* Look at how you can make a difference in someone's life.

(B) I've been in the ministry long enough now to start realizing a wonderful benefit .... (over 22 years) .... watching the fruit of changed lives as they have grown and are now touching others' lives.
* Making a difference in people's lives is what adds meaning to life .... Bringing people to Jesus and watching their lives blossom with His presence .... is what makes life count.
