a- Chapter 1 .... The 1st Mark is Your Perseverance ....
b- Chapter 2 .... The 2nd Mark is Your Practice ....
1- It will be evident in How You Treat Others!
2- Also in How You Overcome Mistakes!
3- Your Practice will grow out of your genuine faith .... because a false faith produces no works -- or practice that honors the Lord!
c- James brings us to the 3rd Mark of a Mature Christian .... Power Over Your Mouth!
(B) James has more to say about the tongue than any other book in the New Testament .... In fact, James shows that everyone of the 5 Marks of Christian Maturity will, in some way, be displayed by the words that you speak:
1- Mark #1 .... Your Perseverance .... James 1:19 says that this mark is displayed when a person is "slow to speak".
2- Mark #2 .... Your Practice .... James 2:12 says that this mark is displayed when you "speak .... as they that will be judged by the law of liberty (God's love in relationship with others)."
3- Mark #3 .... Your Power Over Your Mouth .... Chapter 3 of James is totally dedicated to the Words You Speak.
4- Mark #4 .... Your Peacefulness .... James 4:11 says that this mark is displayed when you "speak not evil one of another ....".
5- Mark #5 .... Your Patience and Prayer .... James 5:12 says that this mark is put on display in your life when you "let your Yes be Yes and your No, No ...." I.E. ... Mean what you say!
* Every Mark of Christian Maturity is displayed by the words we speak because the Tongue and the Heart are connected!
