To make a lasting impact, we must be a visionary people The Bible says that without a vision, the people perished. We've got to be able to see, by faith, the invisible.
I want you to look at John, chapter 4. You remember John, chapter 4 is the occasion of Jesus and His disciples traveling through Samaria and while His disciples had gone into town to buy some supplies for dinner, Jesus had encountered, there at the edge of town, a woman who came to the well of Sychar. This woman was a sinful woman but Jesus came for sinners. Jesus reached out for this woman and He told her about the water of life. He said, "If you drink the water that I give you, you'll never thirst again." That woman was gloriously saved and she went back into the city to tell everyone that she had found the Saviour of the world, the Christ.
John 4:27-31 (27)"And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? (28)The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, (29)Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? (30)Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. (31)In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. (32)But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. (33)Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? (34)Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. (35)Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest."
That's my challenge to you today. "Lift up your eyes and look on the fields..." We have to be a visionary people.
