(A) Series: THE NAMES OF GOD ... Knowing God: The Answer to your greatest needs.
1- We are on a journey to grow closer to God by learning His names so we can know Him better.
2- Our God is one God, but He is so complex that no one name can adequately describe Him ... so God chose to reveal Himself to us by revealing His names to us!
3- Names mean a lot to us ... We use names to define our relationships ... My names include: "Dad" ... "Pastor" ..."Papa" ... "Sweetheart"!
... depending on the person's relationship with me!
4- In Biblical days ... names not only defined your relationship ... but they also reflected a person's nature ... the name told you who the person was!
-- Crossgate Church ... the name exalts Jesus ... tells you that is who we are ... We are a people who have entered through the gate (Jesus) by the cross to become a community of followers of Jesus.
5- Knowing the names of God define our relationship with Him ...
... Knowing the names of God also help you know Him better ... you come to know who He is!
* So we are on a journey to grow closer to God by learning His names ...
* As we learn His names, we can define our relationship with Him by growing more intimate with Him ... and we can learn more about who He is.
* The closer you grow to God ... the more you come to understand that He is ... The Answer to Your Greatest Needs!
(B) Thus far, on our journey to grow closer to God, we have come to know God as:
1- Elohim ... my Creator ... He is the Answer to My Need for a Purpose ...
2- Adonai ... my Lord ... my Master ... He is The Answer to My Need for Significance ... when I
know God as Adonai, He is the priority of my life ... then He brings significance to my life by making the other pieces of my life fit ... I find meaning in my life.
3- El Elyon and El Sh ...
