Acts 10:44-48

INTRODUCTION: It was the talk of the Jewish nation, in the context of Judaism (the Jews' religion). It caused such a stir that a conference was called in the city of Jerusalem.
QUESTIONS: Can a Gentile be saved without becoming a Jew? What's the difference in proselytizing and purifying? The Jews allowed Gentiles to join their religion by 3 acts: baptism, circumcision, and sacrifice. But, Jesus was now offering a relationship by spiritual baptism, the circumcision of the heart, and His sacrifice.

Acts 15:8-9,"So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith."

BAPTISM: Listen to John the Baptist's prophecy:

Acts 11:16, "Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, 'John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'"

CIRCUMCISION: Listen to the Apostle Paul to the Romans:

Romans 2:29, "but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God."

SACRIFICE: Listen again to the Apostle Paul to the Romans:

Romans 5:18, "Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life."

Back to Cornelius' house:
