INTRODUCTION: Casting Crowns wrote the song, If We Are The Body.

"It's crowded in worship today
As she slips in trying to fade into the faces
The girls teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know.

But if we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way."

This text really magnifies the definition of Christianity. Christianity is a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. Christianity is a life – His life lived in those who have trusted in Him as Savior and Lord. The life that the Christian is to live here on earth is dependent upon Christ living in us. Paul said, "Christ in you, the hope of glory." 315 verses have preceded Romans 12:1 in the first 11 chapters. Much has been said that makes it easier for Paul to call for such devotion in Romans 12:1.

Let's refresh our memories with these great doctrines of mercy.

Romans 2:1, "Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things."

Romans 3:20, "Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin."

Speaks of our inability to save ourselves. The law reveals our need but does not provide the solution. It assumes our need but does not provide resources adequate to meet the need.

Romans 5:1, "Therefore, having been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus

To declare righteous; pardon from the guilt and penalty of sin. God declares the sinner righteous solely on the basis of the merits of Christ's righteousness.
