Today I am speaking on the subject "How To Make Your Marriage Affair-Proof". And in a survey of non-Christian people, non-believing people, 50% of the men said that they had had an affair. They had a physical relationship outside their marriage bond. Almost 50% of the women who were nonbelievers said they had an affair. They had been unfaithful to their marriage vows. And of course, as more and more women are entering the workplace, more and more women are outside the context of the home, this number is going to increase in the days to come.
So I think you would agree that one of the things we need to do as believers, as people who are committed to God's standard is to make our marriages affair-proof. We need to do all we can to make sure that our partner doesn't feel the need to seek greener pastures. You know, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Well, I tell you, the grass is greener where you water it, amen? And that is what we are going to be talking about in this message today, "How To Make Your Marriage Affair-Proof" so that it doesn't fall into the same trap that so many marriages are falling in to, especially by those who are unbelievers.
I. THE PROBLEM OF AFFAIRS
So let's look first of all at the problem of affairs. And let's look at what causes unfaithfulness. In Proverbs 22 the Bible says adultery is a trap. God says, "Keep watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation." And I think you would agree that in our society it is so easy to be led into temptation, to be led away from the faithfulness of your marriage vows, to go outside the bonds of your mate to find fulfillment for your life.
