The Difference His Birth Makes

INTRODUCTION: If we believe this, then it makes all the difference in the world for us. Life takes on a new dimension.

Isaiah 9:2, "The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined."

Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born,
unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

"A child-born" Incarnation - Humanity
"A Son-given" Salvation - Deity (Divinity)

Jesus Christ is the God-man. Because of this, He is able to bear our sins on the cross. And God raised Him from the dead as an indication that He had accepted Christ's atoning work on the cross. He was the only One in the entire universe qualified to bear our sins, and He did it voluntarily.

This is, indeed, "glad tidings" or "good news"

Note the difference His birth makes:



Job 9:32-33, "For He is not a man, as I am,
that I may answer Him, and that we should go to court together. Nor is there any mediator between us, Who may lay his hand on us both."

Job found Him to be an advocate, arbitrator, an umpire,
or a referee

Savior who can lay hold of both Job and God. Man enough to understand creatures and God enough to understand the Creator.


1 John 2:1, "My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."
