INTRODUCTION: Many leaders commit the error of separating the two. This happens when people step into leadership positions and assume that everyone will follow them because of their position. It is a mindset that their knowledge alone qualifies them to lead others. (Lavonia: only preach 3 different sermons)

I. DEVELOPING GOOD RELATIONAL SKILLS.
Leaders help themselves by developing good relational skills.
A. LOVE CENTERED ON OTHERS. v.9
A love which centers completely on the needs and welfare of the one loved and doing what is necessary to meet those needs.
B. FAMILY-TYPE LOVE. v.10
Describes a family-type love, not based on personal attraction or desirability.
1 Thessalonians 4:9, "But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another."
By this the world recognizes us as followers of Christ.
