The background of Iraq and Iran go deep into the bible to the very beginning of Genesis when we read of the Tigress and Euphrates Rivers and we read in the bible stories of the Tower of Babel, which is of course was Babylon. That Babylon from the very beginning was a symbol, a symbol of evil, and a symbol of rebellion against God. And so it is in the last days, that Babylon once again is being raised up. When we come to the end of Babylon as we saw in Revelation 17 and 18, we find God's judgment on Babylon, which is very harsh and severe. But Babylon is headed for a final judgment. Babylon will become the headquarters of the Antichrist, the place from which he will rule and reign. On day Babylon and all Babylon stand for, will be conquered and subdued when Jesus comes to rule and to reign in His glory appearing. Now to day, I want you to see the first question we will study.
I. DOES THE U.S. HAVE A DIRECT COVENANT WITH GOD?
Does America have a direct covenant with God? We covered this before, but I want us to consider this again because of this reason, there are many, many groups today who believe that America somehow takes the place of old testament Israel or that America somehow is in God's plan the same as Israel as far as being the people of God. Some even teach that America represents the ten lost tribes of Israel. I could go on and tell you many, many theories of why people believe that America is a chosen nation as Israel is a chosen nation. But you do not find this in the word of God. Look at Psalm 147:19-20. America cannot be an elect nation as Israel was. Only Israel has that kind of covenant relationship with God. The Puritans began a typology of old testament study that led them to believe that New England's corporate mission was to recover the mission of old testament Israel. So this belief runs deep in ...
