"HOW WE SHOULD GIVE"
2 Corinthians 9:1-15
September 1, 1991

INTRODUCTION:
Your attitude is so important in giving. Your attitude
demonstrates your motives.
Definition of the word "attitude": An attitude is a feeling
or disposition you have towards someone or something else.
Biblical Background:
2 Corinthians 8 and 9 are two of the greatest chapters
in the Bible concerning Christian stewardship. Paul knows
his people will give. What he questions is their attitude,
their motive, their condition of the heart.
* Paul is discussing the giving of the churches of Macedonia.
All we do must come from the heart.
(Acts 20:35 says, "It is more blessed to give then to
receive. ")
Illustration:
There are two seas in Israel:
Sea of Galilee - inlet and an outlet.
Dead Sea - only an inlet. (Dead)
* Those who simply receive experience stagnation spiritually.
T.S.:
So in our text today there are four quidelines about how
we should give:
I. WE SHOULD GIVE WITH READINESS. (9:1-5)
Explain:
Redundant of me to write to you about your ministry
of giving.
"Readiness" - eagerly, not reluctantly. He is saying
fulfill your commitment.
"Zeal has stirred up most of them" - Example in
their readiness and willingness to give.
"A bountiful gift" - a generous gift, unblemished by
selfishness.
