"HOW TO FACE THE DIFFICULTIES OF YOUR LIFE"
A Bible Study For The University Of Arkansas Coaching Staff
November 11, 1993
1. What has been the most difficult time or experience
of your life?
(My personal testimony)
2. How did you face that difficulty?
3. What does God say about facing these difficulties
When Paul was in a Roman prison cell he wrote this letter
to the Christians in the city of Phillipi. He wanted to
encourage those believers in their faith. He wanted
to model for the people that true joy comes from your
relationship to Jesus Christ, not from your circumstances.
A Personal Challenge To You.
Right now you have a chance to model to your players
and to everyone else that true joy comes not from
circumstances, but from Christ. This does not lessen
or demean your drive to win and succeed.
Therefore, how are we to face the difficulties we face
I. A PROPER ATTUDE. (vs. 4,13)
Proverbs says: "As a man thinketh in his heart,
so is He."
Your attitude is not determined by the problems
you face, but by your response to those problems.
II. A GODLY SPIRIT. (v. 5)
We do not have to be trained on how to have an
unkind, harsh, mean spirit when difficulties come.
In fact, what is in us comes out of us.
Difficulties give you an opportunity to reveal what
is really inside of you.
Scary? Learn from it.
m. A CONVICTION TO PRAY. (v. 6)
Typical mind set:
When all else fails, pray about it.
