The last 18 months have been absolutely incredible and somewhat frightening, especially in
regard to biblical prophecy. For example: we are seeing before our eyes the unraveling of
the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe's move away from communism, the emergence of Western
Europe, and in August of 1990 Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait. By the way, if Saddam
Hussein continued his control of Iraq, possessed Kuwait, and eventually Saudi Arabia he would
be in control of over 50% of the entire world's resources.
Let me ask you, what do all the events have to do with biblical prophecy? Let me say, no
one man can know the full implications of these events of prophecy. We can be sure where
the Bible speaks, however, we can only project where the Bible does not speak.
I believe there are three specific signposts that indicate to us that we are near the end of
the world. How close to the end I do not know, but we are closer than ever before:
1. The nation of Israel must be in existence before the seven year tribulation will begin
on earth. In 1948 Israel became a nation. This is critical because Israel is the center
of everything in God's program.
2. A revived Roman Empire. In Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 we read of a 10 nation
confederacy that will take military and political control of the world.
The old Roman Empire occupied what today is called the Mediterranean basin and
Europe. In 1989 and 1990 the Cold War is over, the Warsaw Pact is dead, a ...
