Numbers 13:1-3, 17-21, 23-33
INTRODUCTION: How can a young country boy turn into a successful business executive?
an athlete achieve to Olympic status and win the gold medal?
a C student in high school attain to doctoral level of achievement?
a dying city become alive again?
a traditional church become a dynamic innovative church?
*These can all be done as a result of one's ATTITUDE!
An attitude is a feeling or disposition that you have towards someone or something!
Your attitude will determine how you achieve in life as a person and will determine
even today what is going to happen in your life.
"In the way or on the way" of doing great in life! Our attitude puts us on or in the way!
Tell the narrative: the spies, the report (giants), the attitude of spies, the result!
*our Canaan is the spirit-filled life, a growing church, a walk with God!
1. WHY WERE THE TEN SPIES IN THE WAY OF GOD'S WILL?
1. They forgot God's promise to them to indwell Canaan (Exodus 13:5), and they concen-
trated on their circumstances.
Ill: Caze at Christ, not on circumstances! God has promised each of you that he
would take care of you.
2. Lack of vision-Negative attitude, no desire!
Ill: Moses when the spies left did not say "take care" See, people who take care
never go anywhere: take a chance, take charge, take control!
3. Fear of the unknown-A wavering of faith!
ILL: These spies voted like good Baptists and the majority won, BUT they lost the joy of
God in their lives!
App: In our personal lives if we have an attitude like these spies we will experience ruin!
God's will had been known to the people, but because of a bad attitude they did not
accomplish his will!
In our church's life we must not be plagued with this negative attitude! It will
kill us! We cannot gaze at our circumstances, but we must keep our eyes on God
so that we will accomplish his will!
*IN YOUR LIFE AND IN OUR CHURCH ARE YOU EVER IN THE WAY OF GOD'S WILL BEIN ...
