THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE
I Corinthians 13:13

If you have your Bibles tonight, please take them and turn with me to the book of
I Corinthians and thethirteenthchapter. I Corinthians 13 will be our scripture reading tor this
evening. As we turn I want to ask you to stand in reverence to the reading of God's Word. I
want to read one verse here in this text for tonight.
The Bible says in I Corinthians 13:13: "But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but
the greatest of these is love."
Let's bow together. Lord, we just want to be used tonight for Your glory. Thank You
for who You are and that You have loved us first so that in return we are able to love You.
Let the Spirit of God teach us tonight. May He come and move us. God, may we experience
something here tonight that we have never experienced before as a Church family. May the
moving of God be ours. May we get out of the way and may we just be willing to let You do
a work within us that You want to do. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
The author of this book was the Apostle Paul. A missionary, an evangelist, and a pastor
at heart is this man who believed that the greatest thing in the world that any church could
ever do was to love one another. From years of his walking with God we can conclude tonight
that he believed that the greatest ingredient of all that a church could ever have would be
the ingredient of love.
To have a church without love is trying to play a football game without a football.
Let me talk to you for a moment about one of my favorite desserts. It is kind of like
fixing fresh toll house chocolate chip cookies leaving out the chocolate chips. Ladies and
gentlemen, to have a church without love is to really not even be a church at all. It is kind
of like having a Bible study without even a Bible.
