"WE MUST NOT BE ASHAMED"
Romans 1:16; 10:11
INTRODUCTION: One thing I have learned from attending the SBC this year is that we must
begin to speak out as Christians--We have something to say!
Biblical Foundation: Romans 1:16
"For I am not ashamed"--Fearful, embarrassed
'tof the gospel"--good news=life here and eternally
"power of God"--What is power? The gospel! If we want to see the pwer of God we
must promote the gospel and all it stands for in life.
"for salvation"--eternally from sin--It is the pathway of light in a world of darkness
"to everyone who believes"--puts total faith in Jesus
Result of believing in him will be--You will not be disappointed or put to shame
or be ashamed of Christ.
T.S. When relating, promoting, or propagating the gospel comes us there should be no shame in
1. WE MUST NOT BE ASHAMED OF CHRIST IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES.
Exp: We live in a dark world--Jesus says we are to be the light of the world.
*Our witness for Christ must be courageous and brave.
Ill: We have all passed up opportunities because of shame or fear.(2 Tim. 1:7)
App: In our personal witness we must not be ashamed to do so. We must go to dark places
and be light!
2. WE MUST NOT BE ASHAMED OF CHRIST IN OUR CHURCHES.
Exp: Three areas of concern:
a. Believe in the.Word of God.--Alter all we do
b. Evangelistic WzjiL1--God has told us to go! (-4*is toot C>I/>7-1Tt'g7'e
1. Last year in our church it took 13 of our members to win one person to Christ!
Last year in our association it took 35 members to win one person to Christ!
Last year inour convention it took 40 members to win one person to Christ_!
*In the entire SBC over 6,000 churches baptized 0 people
**In the entire SBC over 22,000 churches baptized 15 people or less!
c. Missionary efforts--We need to be committed to sending people out of our churches
in foreign lands! How many of our members in the last 25 years
