"THE ROAD YOU TRAVEL ON TODAY"
INTRODUCTION: Our destiny is to be with God and in his will! There is a road there trave
to this place of solace.
Ill: In America there are all kinds of roads-some are good and some are bad.
But most of them have been traveled on by many before!
Ill: On our way to Utah to preach, Pigosa Springs, Col.!
The road that Chrstians are to follow is the road of faith!
1. THE ROAD YOU TRAVEL ON TODAY HAS BEEN TRAVELED BY MAN' CHRISTIANS. (HEBREWS 2)
Exp: "cloud of witnesses"--all of those who are mentioned in chapter 11. The cloud of
witnesses in this race of life.
Hebrews 11 records some of these--Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob,
Moses, Gideon, and David.
App: You may think nobody has been where you are through the course of history but someoi
has traveled on the road you are on today!
There is no experience in life where someone has never been before! This is comfort
Therefore, we cannot pity ourselves!
Ill: Importance of church history--it solidifies our faith!
2. THE ROAD YOU TRAVEL ON TODAY IS GUARDED WITH SIGNS OF DIRECTION.(HEBREWS 12:1)
Exp: "Lay aside every encumbrance"--Every heavy weight on our shoulders!
"Sin that entangles us"--disrupts our relationship and keeps us from fulfilling God
will in our lives and keeps us from living out our potential!
Ill: Phil. 3:7-14--Paul's testimony of getting rid of the rubbish in our lives!
App: Listen to the directions on this road of faith! Somtimes the will of God is unclea
because of all of our weighty sins!
Direction becomes clear when we are able to see God's will, but our vision is blurrt
when sin is in our lives and we are weighted down by the cares of this world!
We literally lose our spiritual perception! Damaged relationships blur our vision
3. THE ROAD YOU TRAVEL ON TODAY WILL LEAD YOU TO THE WILL OF GOD.(HEBREWS 12:1)
