WHY DO CHRISTIANS BECOME UNFAITHFUL?
John 15:1-5
INTRODUCTION: Jesus preparing to go to cross gives six words of wisdom.
Unfaithfulness lies in every corner.
I. MANY CHRISTIANS BECOME UNFAITHFUL BECAUSE THEY FORGET THEIR SOURCE
OF POWER.(1)
EXP: Jesus is vine-Father cares for vine and branches.
ILL: Function of a vine-it yields proper juices and nourishment to
branches.
Cannot forget fundamentals in a game of football.
APP: True vine in life is Jesus.(Not a revival, etc..)
II. MANY CHRISTIANS BECOME UNFAITHFUL BECAUSE THEY MISUNDERSTAND THE DISCI--
PLINE OF THEIR LORD.(2-3)
EXP: Takes away-do not bear fruit even though they profess.
(church discipline, temptation, persecution, death)
Prunes it-purges it, cuts it back, to make it more effective.
Clean-(3)-process of purification with the teachings of Jesus.
ILL: Apostle Paul's thorn in flesh.
Lord-Slave relationship.
