Message #5
"WHO YOU ARE IN RELATIONSHIP TO WHO GOD IS"
October 10, 1993
INTRODUCTION:
The blessing of being raised in a godly home.
My incredible drive to success.
Search for worth
While working on my doctorate degree I learned I would
never be able to find my worth based on my own
achievements or in how others valued me or my work.
Illustration:
Why has so many of my colleagues, fellow-pastors fallen
away from God and into sin?
They never discovered the truth about their worth.
THE MAJOR PROBLEM IS IDENTITY!
Where can I find my worth?
The only solution to the problem of identity is for you
to discover who you are in relationship to who God is.
When this does not occur there will be confusion, disorder,
and a lack of power in your spiritual life. Only when
we are connected with God will i discover our worth.
QUESTIONS:
Would you like for order to exist in your life?
Do you want to live a balanced life?
Do you like to experience God's power?
These things will only happen as you learn who you are
in relationship to who God is.
T.S.:
In order to discover your identity or your worth today,
I want you to consider five words with me today.
I. MANAGER. (Genesis 1:26-28 and Luke 16:2)
Genesis 1:26-28
"Rule" - Hebrew "radah"
Meaning "I rule" or "I have dominion" on the
the earth. (Stewardship)
Luke 16:2
"Stewardship" - Greek "oikonomos"
Meaning, "a manager of an estate" or "an
inspector of goods."
* Both of these words mean the same thing and
reveal who we are in relationship to who God
is.
Application:
Our worth begins to be discovered when we realize
that the God who owns everything, wants us to
manage all of His creation for Him.
We are to manage personal lives, possessions, etc.
II. SPECIAL. (Matthew 6:26, 30)
llustration:
Jeana does a splendid job in making me feel special.
