COME ALIVE IN THE SPIRIT
Message #5
'COME ALIVE: YOU HAVE POWER IN THE SPIRIT!"
Luke 24:49 and Acts 2:14
March 28, 1993
INTRODUCTION:
I was raised in a Baptist church all of my life. At the age
of fifteen years I recelved Christ as my Lord and Savior.
God began to change my life radically.
The first time I began to hear about real spiritual power
was by a preacher by the last name of Standridge. He
was a tall and handsome man with an incredible ability
to communicate. I remember hearing him quote Luke 24:49.
The next man I heard about power from was a preacher
by the last name of Thibodeux. He personified the power
of God to me.
However, when I was a freshman in college I was laying
in my bed one day, listening to a tape by a preacher named
Jack Taylor. It was in the fall of 1974. He talked about
the power that God gives us when we realize that it is
"Christ in you, our hope of glory." For the first time
in my life I began to realize that Jesus Christ, God's Son
and the personification of His power, was living in me.
It was at this point that God really began to change my
life radically. I began to grow as never before in my
Christian life because I began to understand that God had
given me power in His Spirit.
Are you alive in His Spirit today? Are you living a life
that is experiencing power today? Do not be deceived,
God wants you to live a life of spiritual power!
T.S.:

of statements about the power of God for your life:
I. THE PROMISE OF GOD'S POWER. (Luke 24:49)
Explain:
Just before Jesus, ascension into heaven, He instructed
His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for they were going
to be clothed with power from on high . . . power from
God Himself. Jesus was not going to leave them alone.
He was going to give them the power and presence
of His Spirit.
