How To Get What You Are Looking For In Life by Ronnie Floyd

"HOW TO GET WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IN LIFE"
John 3:11-15
August 11, 1991
INTRODUCTION:
One of the most interesting stories in the Bible is the story
of Abraham and Sarah. God had told them they were going
to receive the blessing of God and all their descendants be
blessed. The problem was that Sarah was barren - she could
not have children. They were faced with a question: Are
you going to believe God or not?
After some time of waiting for the promise to be fulfilled,
impatience set in among them. Sarah gave her servant to
Abraham by the name of Hagar and Hagar gave Abraham a
son. His name was Ishmael. You see, Abraham and Sarah
trokl their lives in their own hands. They chose not to wait
on God and created their own Ishmael.
e.strt.ion.-
Many of you have your own iLtti-e ishnaels that often invade
your life. You decided not to wait on God and now you
are driving your own Ishmael or you are living in it.
Abraham and Sarah thought man's way would get them
what they were looking for.
God came back to them and told them I am going to give
you a son. Sarah laughed but at a very old age, Sarah
became pregnant. God had moved miraculously. He gave
them a son name Isaac so they could receive what they
were looking for in life.
Application:
You get what you are looking for in life in one of two ways.
You either:
1. Get it man's way. (Manipulation)
2. Get it God's way. (Time, faith)
T.S.:
In John 3, one of the most powerful religious and cultural
figures of the 1st century was looking for the real meaning
of life. Jesus had told him that he must be born again.
He had told him what it meant to be born again. Inspite
of all the Lord told him, he asked Jesus, "How can
these things be?" In other words, How am I going to get
what I am looking for in life? Jesus told him and us in
this text how we can get what we are looking for in life.
