'"HE BENEFITS OF ME ABIDING LIFE"
1 John 2:28-3:3
Introduction: "What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall
see. When I look upon his face, the one who saved ue by his
grace. When he takes me by the hand and leads me to the pran-
ised land, What a day, glorious day that will be."
That is what abiding in Christ is all about.
Explanation: The term "abiding in Him" means to remain in
Him or to continue in Him. The word abide is used 23X in this
Epistle. Correct faith is the reference earlier, but here it
is correct conduct in relation to the Lord's Advent. A sense
of urgency is implied here for the need to abide in Christ.
Are you presently abiding in Christ? Remaining in Him? Stay-
ing in Him? If you are you will receive four benefits accord-
ing to this text because you abide in the Lord:

His arrival time will not be too late, or early, but
just when the Father is readyl

In this passage it is indicated if we abide in Christ
we will have the boldness to face Jesus and His judg-
ment. Present fellowship with Jesus leads to eternal
fellowship with God. The word also relates here to
boldness of speech so we will have a sense of bold-
ness of speech to the Lord when He comes.

If we do not actively engage in fellowship with Je-
sus we will face shame if Christ were to come and
we are not walking in Him. This does not mean we
lose our salvation, but indicates a DIVINE DI ...
